Crusaders Make a Difference in Service Trip to Brownsville, Texas

ORADELL, NJ, December 2, 2024– Recently Bergen Catholic students and faculty participated in their annual immersion service trip to Brownsville, Texas. While at the Texas-Mexico border, the Crusader students helped to feed the homeless and assisted Catholic Charities RGV, a respite center for legal immigrants into the country. The BC students also learned about the Arise organization, a group that helps female immigrants trying to get away from domestic violence and all harm.

The BC students joined with students from other Edmund Rice schools to visit a local Edmund Rice grammar school, attended Mass at the Basilica of San Juan, and visited Palo Alto National Park. This trip educated our BC students on the issues inherent at the border, while also teaching how to give back to those suffering from poverty and injustice.
