BC Students Construct & Deliver Bicycle to Cancer Patient
ORADELL, NJ, February 15, 2024– Over the past few months, Bergen Catholic students in the Crusaders for Social Responsibility Club successfully fundraised to purchase a bicycle from Sussex Bike Shop, part of an overall initiative aimed to support small businesses and provide a source of joy for a child named Julian, a 6-year-old who is currently battling cancer. Additionally, the Crusaders purchased some items for Julian’s siblings, as well as a gift card for his parents. Bergen Catholic worked in conjunction with the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund to help provide this gift for Jay Fund patient Julian and his entire family.
The Bergen Catholic’s students not only enjoyed the challenge of constructing the bicycle as a team, but the complete payoff came when seeing the excitement and jubilation on Julian’s face when presented with the gift. At Bergen Catholic, our young men are taught to lead with empathy, and to develop a passion for giving back to others in need.
