Father James While was ordained in May of 1980 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, NJ. He has held assignments as parochial vicar at St. Philomena’s in Livingston and Our Lady of Good Counsel in Washington Township. He has held special assignments as chaplain to St. Michael’s Hospital in Newark and currently as chaplain to Bergen Catholic High School for the last 13 years. Fr. White was educated at various institutions in our area. He received his BA degree from Seton Hall University, his M.Div. from Immaculate Conception Seminary, an MS Ed in Pastoral Counselling from Iona College and a Doctor of Ministry from Drew Theological Seminary. His achievements at Bergen Catholic have included the training of peer ministers who work with him on retreats for all age levels, the liturgical and sacramental program, senior service projects and summer mission trips, and plenty of one-on-one counseling. For his doctoral dissertation, he developed a Christian Leadership elective that has become very popular with BC seniors.
