Mr. John Puzio became associated with Bergen Catholic in 1976. He graduated from Montclair State College with degrees in Mathematics and Physics. “Puz” has taught Honors Physics, Environmental Chemistry, Statistics and began the senior elective Astronomy course. Since 1979, “Puz” has moderated the Ski Club, the Stage Crew for the Drama Club and coached the Chess and Math teams. In 1982 he became Bergen’s first Swim Coach. John helped form the NNJIL swim division in 1986 and Bergen’s teams have dominated ever since, John was twice named US Swim Coach for the Italian Junior Olympics and served as BC’s Athletic Director for three years. As the Varsity Tennis Coach, he was twice named Bergen County Coach of the Year. John married Francesca Tambone in 1992.
