James M. Oleske, MD graduated from BC in 1963. Jim was an honor student and football player while at Bergen. Jim followed his high school dream and he has been a pediatrician for 18 years. In 1982, Jim, along with an associate, discovered the AIDS syndrome in children. Prior to their work, it was believed that AIDS occurred only in adults. Jim was also Involved In the research which assisted the Center for Disease Control identifying the HIV Virus. Dr. Oleske’s story was made known to all on nationwide TV.
