Mr. John R. Courtney came to BC in 1956 as one of the first laymen on its faculty. He organized and chaired its Latin Department. John’s Latin classes used to enjoy an annual • Ides of March • celebration. He was a member of the English department, and during his last years at BC, was chosen to head the school’s Religion department. John organized and was moderator of the Crusaders for Christian Action, a Catholic action group. John Courtney exemplifies a true Christian gentleman and educator.
