Mike Connelly, a 1970 BC graduate, was one of the star players on BC’s 22-3 basketball team in 1969-1970. A two-year starter for legendary coach, Chris Donfield. Connell led the Crusaders in scoring and rebounding during his senior season, averaging 20 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks per game. Mike was a versatile “big man,” who could score inside and outside, handle the ball, pass, rebound and play tenacious defense. He was named All-County, Third Team All-Parochial, and Honorable Mention All-State, as well as The Record’s “Athlete of the Week” in 1970. Mike first played collegiately at William & Mary before transferring to Villanova where he became a starter. At the time of his graduation from BC, Mike ranked third all-time in scoring and first overall in rebounding. Mike lives in Mahwah with his wife and daughter. He teaches physical education and coaches at Columbia Prep School in New York City.
