Join us in celebrating 54 years of legendary support in memory of Brother Martin P. Burns. The BERGEN CATHOLIC GOLF CLASSIC is a rich tradition that continues to be one of our most popular fundraising events of the year. All funds raised on this day go to support Tuition Assistance for the students at Bergen Catholic. Thank you to our dedicated golfers who consistently support our amazing school at this great event.
We are thrilled to offer an exciting new format with two different options of play!
MORNING GOLF FORMAT:
The morning golf format will have each player play his or her own ball. This gives competitive golfers the chance to test their skills on the recently updated Charles Banks course at Hackensack Golf Club. The option to play a SCRAMBLE (see description below) will also be available.
We invite our morning golfers to stay for lunch and return for cocktails and dinner at 5:30.
AFTERNOON GOLF FORMAT:
The afternoon golf format will be a SCRAMBLE.
This format has each golfer tee off, and the best shot is selected. The play from this point forward is the same; each player hits, and the best shot is selected.
These options will accommodate golfers of every level and speed up the pace of play.
If you would like to join us for Lunch or Dinner only (no golf)—you will see that option available on the registration form.

PEBBLE BEACH
GOLF EXPERIENCE RAFFLE
Enjoy three outstanding rounds of golf at Pebble Beach Resort—Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and The Links at Spanish Bay. Accommodations will be provided for 4 guests (double occupancy) for 3 nights at Pebble Beach Resort’s The Inn at Spanish Bay. Breakfast is included each morning.
- Trip does not include caddy fees or gratuities, airfare or ground transportation. Winner has until June 10, 2025 to enjoy his/her trip.
- Winner can choose to substitute another Land & Links destination and will be responsible for any difference in cost.
Tickets are $100 each, and only 400 will be sold! You do not need to be present to win!
SCHEDULE:
- 6:30-10:30am: Registration & Breakfast
- 8.00am: Morning Golfers Shotgun Start
- 11:30am-3:00pm: Lunch (Clubhouse and on Course)
- 1:00pm: Afternoon Golfers Shotgun Start
- 5:30 pm: Cocktails, Silent Auction, Putting Contest, and other activities
- 7:00-8:30pm: Honoree Recognition, Dinner, Awards/Prizes, Silent Auction, and Golf Experience Raffle drawing
Congratulations to our Honoree, Longtime Golf Classic and Bergen Catholic Supporter,
Dave Monahan '80
Dave graduated from Bergen Catholic in 1980. While at BC he played on the golf team for 4 years and was part of the 1980 State Championship team which was the first state golf championship in school history. Dave also played golf in college at Tulane University.
After graduation from Tulane, Dave embarked on a successful career in the insurance and financial consulting industry, retiring in 2023.
In 2020 he established in his father’s name the Monahan Family Scholarship Fund that awards financial aid to a student who loses a parent while attending Bergen Catholic. Dave lost his father while a freshmen at Bergen Catholic so this is a cause very dear to him. To date, the fund has eased the tuition burden for three families experiencing a loss.
In March of 2020, Dave became the assistant golf coach at BC which he has enjoyed for 5 years. Dave is truly honored to have recently been named head golf coach for the 2026 season.
Dave is the proud husband to his wife Denise and father of three children — Beth, Shannon and David III. He has three lovely grandchildren— Sam, Emma and Zoe. Dave and his family are proud to be able to give back to Bergen Catholic.
