Dean Portas Appointed as Bergen Catholic Varsity Hockey Coach

ORADELL, NJ, May 29, 2024– Bergen Catholic is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Dean Portas as the varsity head coach of the Bergen Catholic hockey program. Coach Portas has been a part of three New Jersey state championship hockey programs, having won a title during his playing career at Montclair High School, won a state title as the head coach at Ramsey High School, and won a state title as an assistant coach at Northern Highlands Regional High School.

The Bergen Catholic hockey program has a history of success, having won two state championships and two Tournament of Champions titles in program history, to go along with five Bergen County championships. The Crusaders compete in the vaunted Gordon Conference, viewed as the elite conference in New Jersey high school hockey.
